The food was very good, service was very quick and we were seated despite not having a reservation. Portion sizes here are very generous. The lady serving us was so sweet and hardworking; she went above and beyond, seating us on a bigger table so we would be more comfortable and always checking in. The food is good but the service here really stands out.

Highly recommend paying a visit, the food did not disappoint, it was fresh, especially the sashimi and I would rate the food as one of the best in Cardiff. The attention to detail and pride in presentation has not gone unnoticed and the taste match how well it looked.

A truly wonderful experience. The food was sensational and you can taste the love and care that is put into making it. Both the chef and hostess are generally lovely people. It was an honour to dine here. We were a group of 4, celebrating my daughters birthday. The hostess made it very special and truly memorable. We will be back as soon as we can. Thank you.

I had been craving noodles for a while but had previously been disappointed by other Japanese restaurants so I was very nervous about eating here......however, I was absolutely blown away. The service was amazing from the offset, the lady serving us gave us recommendations and was extremely accommodating. The starters were divine and the main was even better. We were blown away with everything.
Everything is reasonably priced and you can tell this restaurant is fuel with love for cooking. I would highly recommend- Food

It's a bit out of the centre but there's parking in the street behind and it's well worth the trip. Booking advisable as there's only a few tables.

I went here lunchtime and I enjoyed it. It’s a small space and feels really nice and intimate. The welcome was warm, the service was good, the beer was cold and the Gyudon beef rice bowl was delicious. I recommend this place.

Had the pleasure of tasting the spicy pork ramen, three types of tamaki (salmon skin, eel and prawn), chicken wings, and crispy prawn in breadcrumbs. Everything was delicious. Felt at home with a friendly service. Such a lovely little gem with authentic foods served to a high standard. Since then, we have been trying other dishes like grilled eel uramaki, california uramaki, char siu bun, gyoza, beef shank, and finished with happy tummies.- Food

We chose Don Don YATAI to celebrate our daughter birthday. The food was amazing, all freshly made to order and very tasty. We tried all the nigiri and uramaki. The service was brilliant and very friendly. Easy parking.

A new and tasteful Japanese restaurant in Cardiff. The hot food are great , including crispy and juicy fried chicken udon, grilled eel don with fried egg on top of the rice, special cooked sake soup with clamps , Nagoya style grilled chickens wings & spicy tuna sushi….etc. the staff there are so welcoming and friendly to help.

Ahead of our visit the restaurant were great at organising our table and making sure to provide a high chair for our daughter which we really appreciated. The lady serving was lovely and very welcoming. The food was amazing, particularly enjoyed the gyoza - both me and my partner said it was the best we’d ever tasted. We will definitely be back again and look forward to trying lots of different types of sushi here.
